Giac Vien Pagoda is located on Lac Long Quan Street in Ho Chi Minh City. It was built by Master Huong Dang in 1805 in honour of Emperor Gia Long. At first it was a thatched-roof hut used for worshipping Bodhisattva and was named Kwan-Yin. In 1850, it was renamed Giac Vien Pagoda by Chan Master Hai Tinh. The pagoda conserves more than 150 statues and engravings, most of which date from the late 19th to early 20th centuries. Giac Vien Pagoda has been classified by the State as a cultural relic and a mini-museum of wooden engravings of historical and artistic Value.
